I am an actor, director, puppeteer, movement coach, choreographer, writer, performance coach, creative consultant, career/creative mentor, and theatrical storyteller. In addition to my on camera experience, I have performed Off-Broadway, in workshops, festivals, summer stock, and regional theatre productions. I have been on both sides of the table, as an actor and behind the scenes as a member of the creative team. I have trained with The Atlantic Theatre Company, The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, and New Studio on Broadway. I have a BFA in Theatre from NYU’s Tisch School of Drama. I am an arts educator at Village Theatre, a member of The Czech-American Theatre Company, on staff at Stonestreet Film & TV Studio, and a member of SAG-AFTRA.
My philosophy: As a director and coach I believe the most complex, challenging, and compelling version of a story is the simplest one right in front of you; in the text and in the moment. Instead of acting out your idea or plan, explore what's truly and simply happening in that moment. That brave act unlocks humor, tragedy, and everything in between.
As a coach I'm encouraging, passionate, attentive, energetic, driven, honest, supportive, professional, and a true cheerleader for the artists I work with.
Diving into a text and analyzing it is one of my favorite things to do. I want to help you critically break down a text through script analysis techniques, so that in the moment you can act freely and impulsively. I am interested in how your life experience intersects with the art you are creating. Those intersections are where you’ll find your passionate artistic voice; the creative spark that brings you and your work to life. My goal is that you’ll be so confident in the script analysis work we’ve done, that in the moment you can focus entirely on taking brave risks and making bold choices that are supported by your breath, voice, and body.
Wherever you are in your creative journey and whatever the next step is for you, I looking forward to helping you reach that next level! Sessions are tailored to your individual needs and goals. Here is just some what I do for my clients:
Prepare you for any and all types of auditions & projects (on camera work, stage roles, EPAs, undergrad/grad school auditions, etc.)
- Make self tapes that allow casting directors and producers to focus on you, so you can get called back and book. (I can offer performance notes, as well as tips & tricks for setting up your home recording studio and playing the frame.)
Find and prepare material that will make you shine! Building your audition book with monologues (classical & contemporary) and/or songs (that show range & your interpretation skills).
Career guidance: industry advise, how to market yourself, prepare for meetings (with casting directors, agencies, and managers), and create a successful creative practice to continue your growth as an artist and human when the path ahead may be filled with uncertainties.
Storytelling through movement/dance. Whether or not you consider yourself a mover or a dancer, how we express with our bodies is part of how we tell stories. I teach physical acting choices for actors (creating organic character driven movement), revealing character through movement (breaking down choreography for dancer/actors), and more.
Creative consultations on projects of all scopes and mediums. Developing ideas into stories, and stories into theatrical experiences.
Due to all the corona craziness I’ve lowered my rates and made myself available for half hour sessions and a limited amount of same day bookings. I work with artists in person in New York, LA, and Washington. I lead workshops and classes on devised theatre, viewpoints, practical aesthetics, formalist script analysis, storytelling through movement, and audition technique.
